NOMADIC MUD
About
This site aims to document my travels (the nomadic part) and my work (the mud/ceramic part) including how I explore a range of surface treatments and decorating techniques, creating multiple layers that require closer inspection. The Nomadic Mud site not only provides information about upcoming exhibitions and projects, but also insights into my classroom practice and role as an educator.
MEG ALLFORD
My creative output given my nomadic nature and chosen medium is understandably a challenge. Yet I believe in channelling my creative urges in order to produce unique artwork, often influenced by my surroundings and travels, wherever I'm based. Where there's a will, there's a way. The inspiration for my work is taken from the rich tapestry of pattern, geometry and colours found in both nature and the man-made world. Most recently, my focus has been on the almost alien landscapes I encounter whilst diving in coral reefs.
Nomadic Mud is born out of a combination of my education, training and will to wander, which allows my practice as an artist to remain traditional yet contemporary. My art is my meditation and my narrative it is an attempt at offering a small glimpse into my world.
